I was an early adopter of Space Engineers, one of many that bought the game early on and saw it develop. The end result was not what I was hoping for, but I loved playing the game when it was a skeleton of the formal game that became its complete state. There is a lot of confusion when you first join the full game. It requires a steep learning curve with a multitude of options available to the user.
I have returned to it in recent weeks. The overall time, so far, has been spent learning the processes. If you are expecting to drop in and play a Minecraft clone, you will be very sad, as this goes deep into following routines, adding AI and keeping yourself alive. There is a Creative Mode, but the fun is in the Survival. After many hours of YouTube videos and playing about playing with its features; I have now managed to survive days on the Earth-like planet.

I wanted to mention this, as coming back to things can change your feelings toward it. I am now enjoying SE, once again, finding the survival engaging and tasking. It’s a huge time killer, taking out hours of your time, very easily. I would suggest that if you enjoy Minecraft and use it to explore and setup bases, then SE is a great next step. Watch some Splitsie on YouTube, and follow his tutorials, he will guide you, especially with the Beginner’s Guide series that he did. Give it a go; at £15.99, there’s a lot of game! If there is one thing to learn from this, make sure you don’t assume you feel the same now, as what you did years ago, you may be surprised.
