What a strange post this is to become, but I wanted to ramble my thoughts on mowing, whilst I was mowing. As I pushed my old Mountfield electric lawn-mower, I was wondering about the future of cutting grass. How can it really change? The only real swap that we have seen is with the advent of automatic mowing robots. I can’t imagine these doing too well on rough ground, which would be a joke on my lawn! The use of a metal blade that spins, is the best way to mow, is it not? Have we reached the peak of mowing? Is it the Shark of gardening perfection?

I then thought about how I have a weird obsession with getting the last cut of the year in, at the right time. Last year I made it to mid-November, where will it be, this year? Despite my crazy feelings about the grass growing long, I really dislike the grass getting long and not being able to cut it during winter. So…that brings me to my -ramble-point! Is there a method of cutting that will allow it in the winter? Can the growth be slowed, rather than putting fake grass down? I did wonder if there was a way of using light, though this does just seem like a futuristic option of the common blade! What are your thoughts? Mmmmmmmm…brain on override mode…must sleep!
