Set Review – 31376 3-in-1 Cute Hamster

I was going to build the next ‘plants’ set for this week’s episode, but I saw this on the shelf and decided to grab it. Not going to lie, those cute cheeks drew me in! I do enjoy these 3-in-1 sets, especially the small ones that are key to pocket-money purchases or for a small birthday party gift. This offers the choice of the hamster, a hedgehog or a bird. It does tell you that there is a flower with the build, too, but this is a common addition for many sets, now. There is a sense that Lego wants to add more botanicals to its whole line-up. I think it’s sweet, but I wonder if there will be a Star Wars set with one in? There could be, there are many planets in the lore that could make this work! This set was penny dearer than the Lego website, at a full £9. I don’t expect this to be any dearer and would definitely mark this as an averagely priced purchase.

Even from the box, you can see that this is more of a display piece, than that of a play-set. You could use your imagination to give it a story, but it is more in the build, than anything else. The inside has placky bags and feels old, now, somehow. All the parts are spilled out, like many other Creator sets. There are a lot of fiddly parts to work with. The Brickheadz element is in the latter stages of the build, using offset blocks to allow for fixing to the sides. This forms the shape and texture of the animal. There is the usual separate instruction booklets, allowing you to choose from each build option. This is a fun, small, build, and at the price-point, it is not a heavy ‘shelling’ out. I would say that it is age specific, so please be careful with the extra small bricks, where some are fitted into spaces that only small finger tips are good for.

31376 – What a sweet build!

So, I am keen on these sets, anyway, but this one is a worthwhile grab for the money. The build is around the thirty minute marker, with smaller hands taking up to fifty minutes. It is much the same as the other sets in the Creator series, allowing for adaptation and using a mix of different block types to form a good figurine. I would imagine that if you are a fan of any of these animals, you would like this from the box’s opening.

First Impressions – A very impulsive buy…look at those cheeks.
