It comes to something when you need to get a larger version of an item that you have only had for nine months. Even though the little compressor is still very much useful, I have managed to attain a used sandblasting cabinet, and if you have read anything about blasting, you need a good flow for it to work, properly. The smaller unit, my baby 24L Einhell, is great for ratchetting and tyre inflation, etc. I needed something with a bit more clout. Looking at Gumtree, I found this Clarke 14cfm cylinder. It’s old, but the latest versions, at this kind of flow rate, are in the £600-£700 mark. The CFM (Cubic-Feet per Minute,) is all about the volume of the air that can be used, and the small dust particles need to be blasted at high speed.
By comparrison, Colin Jnr. is at around 5-6cfm, tops. There is little on this unit, but it appears to be able to push to 145psi (Pounds per Square-Inch,) which is fantastic. The PSI is all about the force in which it can blow. Jnr. will run up to 100psi. So, with all of these number, at £155, this was a nice buy. The power switch, although still usable, does not click down properly, but this is simply a fatigue issue in the plastic casing and switch construction. I will look at this at a later time. Watch out for a post about that…maybe! I did, also, replace the hose-port, as the old one was too small for the hoze nozzles that I have. The, new, larger, boy, is called, Colin Snr. Side-by-side, they look fantastic, with the old, helping out the new. I do like the idea of putting in a manifold so that I can run both, should I need an extra boost, that’s something to look at, if it is possible. Good times for containers of air!
