The creaking on Vyvyan has gotten so bad, it couldn’t wait the last week before the MOT is done. Upon inspection, I have found a problem with one of the balljoints. The rubber boot that protects the lower joint from debris is split open and give a much faster rate of wear. (You can find the post that links to this one, here.)

With only three bolts and four nuts, this is a reasonable fix to do myself. I purchased the part, locally, and am ready to get it done. Jacking up the van, it is remeniscient of last week, but now it’s on the off-side of the van. The suspension appears to be fine, but the lower ball-joint is making most, if not all, of the noise. With the wheel taken off, I can undo the old one and do a simple refit, straight after it. The arm needs to be bolted back on and it’s then time to test the fix.

UPDATE: Due to me needing a pry tool, I ran out of time so decided to leave the balljoint for the garage to swap during the MOT. I spent an hour trying to lever the balljoint from its fitting. I now have the pry tool in my possession. Somewhat of a defeat, I will endeavour to learn and be ready for the near-side one to inevitably go.
