Bringing Light to My New Favourite Robot!

I was watching Thunderbirds, the other week, and decided to catch this image from the TV. I forgot how much I love Gerry Anderson productions. In this aprticular episode (1965), it was all about a sun-probe that went awry. Thunderbird 3 was tasked with getting to it before it went into the sun and melted the occupants. Using a beam, they were able to take control of it and send it back to Earth. There was, of course, more to it, but that was the core of it.

A cool 60s robot!

On the ground, Thunderbird 2 was sent out to land on Everest and help to keep communications from the highest point that they could find. On-board, Brains was with Virgil Tracy, both stashed inside a tracked-vehicle getting covered in ice. They had brought a setup to help them, with a case that had a ‘mobile-computer’ inside. It turned out, that the wrong case was loaded and they brought a cool robot with them, instead. It was this that ended up saving Thunderbird 3 from the same fate as the probe, after they had fallen unconscious from the heat.

I love this geezer. there’s nothing like a 60s flare to a modern ideal. What a gem!
