Building the Robotic Arm (More ROBOTS!)

This is a set that has been given to me. It’s quite old now, demanding D-Cell batteries and no wireless capability. That said, it is a great build, asking the user to make the gearboxes, body and controller up, from parts. It was quite the undertaking, lasting about two hours. In the end, the arms would shift one way, and not the other. I determined this to be due to circuit-grounding issues. The controller is a little bit cheap as the levers press upon the connectors, underneath. The main problem is that the plates are on fixed with one screw meaning that they tend to turn around.

The wiring was quite simple, but meant plugging them in, in a certain order. As it required the cells, I used my power-supply-unit to give it the 6v, that it needed. You will often find these sets, unbuilt, unloved and ready for donation. Look around and you can pick them up for a fraction of the new-cost. Even if it is old, it will still offer the fun that any new one can give you.

I will say, that even though I have built it, I will turn it into components. There are six, plugin, motors available. With that, is an LED, too. They are all attached with pin-plugged wires. Not a bad haul to add to the ever-growing component stash!
