This is a real gem. I have a later View Master in my collection, that has a speaker built into it. This one, is a beauty from th 1950s. It cost the average price of £25; this is quite normal in 2024, but there is something that stands out. It has a dozen image discs with it. They offer tourist images for various contries that include, Italy, Spain and USA. There is also images from a German stage production. I love the primitive nature of these, comparing them to what we have, now.
The View Master from my childhood was red. I remember having one, looking through the eyepieces at He-Man and Star Wars. This one is thirty years before my time, and shows the quiant differences. It has a brown ‘bakelite‘ finish, adding to the antique-feel that it simply has. There’s not a lot to say, but what a cute find, and what a great way to see a toy of the past.
