I got these from a friend that sells for a local charity, and they reminded me of Zoids from the 80s. These are cell powered, rather than wind-up, and seem to offer a means to sense objects. I picked them up as I was impressed by the mechanism for the legs. Due to the design, there are always enough toes on the floor to keep it upright, producing a steady, horizontal, flow. It reminds me of Nute Gunray’s crawling chair in Star Wars, Episode One.
I have been searching for these, online. There is nothing that is obvious, but I am looking forward to replacing the cells and seeing if the black cones are like object-sniffers. Are they designed to battle one another? The overall build quality is not amazing, but they are very much like the plastic of toys in the 80s. I think these are more modern and likely an online purchase from a Chinese warehouse company. If you have any idea of what they are, let me know.
