With Vyvyan’s MOT test looming, I needed to do some extra fixes. The horn has played up since I bought her and has needed to be changed. With the underside having a broken splash guard, I also decided to swap that, too. Upon inspection of the old horn, it appeared to be waterlogged, for which I have no doubt was the actions of a broken guard to stop this happening.

I wanted to add a pair of horns, like what you see in the picture, but decided to drop to one. It is louder and I felt that the circuit wasn’t pleased with the original setup when I tried it. It now works well; a short wire links the ground spade to the top of the fixing, thus completing the circuit.

The guard was quite simple. I used the tools that I had previously purchased to pry the clips off and unwound the screw on its lower-front-flap. It was quite a simple swap over. I was even able to use the same panel clips, as the tools pulled them out with little fuss. All-in-all, a job well done. Another bit that’s ready for a cheaper MOT, I hope.
