Making the Strower 3000!

Note: This is not a safe option and is used with sheer caution. A spinning mower blade is not a toy, so beware…please!

There are many homes that suffer from the weed blight. I appreciate that this is yet another gripe about the garden, but it centres around the beast of my own! Back yards have issues with brambles. They grow so high and become harder and harder to remove.

Currently, it has gotten out of hand, and I needed to up-the-ante. Seeing an old, electric, lawn-mower, in the corner of the garden, I set about cutting the front off to create a ‘striker’ system. Using the front edge of the blade would act as a weed mower, thus the name.

The front is missing…the Strower is born!

Using a saw, I cut the front off and found that the blade was a little shorter than I’d hoped. After the fact, I thought about shrinking the barrel down, meaning that more of the front could be removed. However, for now, I tested it with the blade as-is.

Better than expected!

I plugged it in, and then went at the weeds. Although there was room for improvement, it did a grande job. It ploughed them down, well, and cleared an area in a reasonable time. It also had good control. There is many things that could be made better, but for now, this was a small triumph! All hail the Strower 3000!
