This is the second of the Minecraft builds that were found on the shelf in my local charity shop. Like the other, it is part built and dusty. Another swish of a small brush and a quick dismantle solves that, though. The set is not complicated, but does have small parts that form the white specks on the mushroom’s surface.

Upon first inspection, I found that the main house was built in three distinct pieces, with much of the base plating and floral bits, left untouched. Aside from the dust, this one is a little bit dirty. Something has splashed onto it, it’s not grime, so it will come off with a damp cloth. As a set, it looks sweet, the figures have pets and the overall design of the house, is reminiscent of the enjoyment of Minecraft.

The figures are simple, holding their usual tools. There is a lidded bucket, no doubt used for collecting the harvest from the adjacent veg-patch. The protagonist, is that of Steve, but the antagonist, is a brutal skeleton riding a spider! Sporting its generic bow, it has a fabulous purple helmet. The mushroom cow is a nice addition, it fits in with the aesthetic. The one section, that I found more inkeeping than anything found in Minecraft sets, to date, was the tree. A very simple build, but it’s so synonymous with Minecraft, that I almost wanted to leave it hanging.

Overall, this is a nice set and better than the Fox Lodge (21178) was. Even though it’s smaller, it feels very close to the game’s graphical namesakes. I like the thought that other sets will be like this. Looking at other Minecraft set finds that I have in storage, I think I have the Fox, twice. I would have preferred it to have been this set, at least I could have started my own Mushroom Fields.
First Impressions – Looks really cute and is a little better than the Fox Lodge. (21178 – Read the review, here.)
