At the time WALL-E was released in cinemas, my late wife and I were really into Pixar productions. Having done the cute Luxo Jr Lamp, recently, this was another sweet build to have a go at. At £13.99, it’s of an average price, but be careful, when it comes to BrickHeadz, they retire quite soon and become expensive to buy after. Even when they are still in production, they can shift in price when stock is low. Ahsoka, anybody?
So, how does this set fair? It is okay, and like I have said, as a display piece, it looks very sweet. However, there are downsides to it. I almost want to say that it is a little ‘overpriced’ due to it feeling like a ‘upgraded’ polybag setup. They are nowhere near the build quality of other BrickHeadz, and offer a short build time. Saying that, they are great for young builders. And being in a pair, one set can work for two kids, so that isn’t bad, either. I would offer up the advice that it is for Pixar or WALL-E fans, and for those that want a simple build. They have no playability, really. Young ones might use them in a scenario, but on the whole, they are shelf fodder.
I do like how the plates that they sit on are like Minifigure ones, but this can link you to simpler concepts, so are note really much of help to sell it as new set for you to buy. I am being hard on, but past the simplicity, it is nice and I happy to have it in my Disney Pixar collection. I could see these being made into larger sets. Something akin to the Star Wars helmets. You could have better detail and a better stretch for that shelf display. The WALL-E logo is printed on, so there are NO STICKERS! These are great characters, and this set is a simple buy and build, but I do like it, even if I am slamming it. If you like WALL-E, Pixar or colourful displays, these are great for that.
