Set Review – 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver

We have another one of these up-scaled minifigures to try out. I built the 2023 model, a few weeks ago, and it was quite the joy to build. This is very similar, but the helmet needed concentration. If you are to build on, make sure you check each stage to make sure it is constructed, precisely. I will review the earlier model, in due course, but you can see the similarities, with this one having a unique look by comparison. I look forward to seeing what other ones they produce.

All of the bags were paper, which was great. There were some plastic ones, inside them, though. There were no stickers, which is always a good time, for me. There are eight main bags, in total, which are separated in the same way as the other one. Stages are:

  • One: A leg.
  • Two: A leg…again!
  • Three: The torso.
  • Four: Waistband.
  • Five: Arms.
  • Six: Head.
  • Seven: A bit more head!
  • Eight: Helmet.

A key feature of the build was the engine inside his head. I guess they were aiming for a motor-head kind of vibe. The other one had a mini-version of the figure driving it from under the baseball cap. It is, of course, an ornament and is mostly designed as a collectable. There is no real play involved, but any kid that want’s a large mini figure on the shelf, won’t go wrong with this, though they may need help to ensure the build goes smoothly.

I like these and think that they are a cute extra to my collection. It looks great with the other one, and is a retro-flashback to the Octan figures of my younger days. At £45, they average and offer a nice build for the money. Ig play is the core reason for purchasing a set, then this one is not the right choice. What a joyful looking dude!

First Impressions – A cool new up-scaled mini figure for 2025!
