Set Review – 42020 Technic Mini Helicopter (Find)

This is the second of the ‘found’ sets. Unopened, and at a top price of £5, I have enjoyed them. Like the Off-Roader, it is retired. The first thing that I noticed, was how technical it was, as a build. It’s not unusual to have fiddly aspects to Technic sets, but this one required a lot of small sections, added to larger ones. I love this and, for its size, it was brilliant for anybody that wants to be challenged, without too much of a headache. You can see in the images that there are stickers. Not good, but I placed them, with few problems.

It comes together, all of a sudden. Similar to other Technic sets, it holds some geared parts; this had both rotors moving with the use of a twisting-motion to the extended axle that leads out of the back. When the graphics are applied, it’s a cool thing to play with. It is these sets that offer the most challenge to younger builders, and would have been a fantastic gift, when it was released in 2014. I can’t really liken the ‘challenge’ to any other set of this size.

It’s yet another top find, a great set to be added to my display and collection. I imagine it was a gift that was never built. Not all want to, and many think that Lego is the best option for a birthday offering. When buying Technic, it’s better to know the individual, and if you don’t, get them City or even Friends. The name ‘Technic’ is not for the faint-hearted, even if people like me lap it all up!

First Impressions – Technical skills are required on this one. Impressive and fiddly, very nice!

Price-Point – Below Average

Time to Build – 25-35 Minutes

Score: 8/10
