Set Review – 42073 BASH! (Find)

I found this set, months ago, and thought it was about time to build this little pull-back dragster. There is no steering, but it does go fast in one direction! The troubles with this set was the folded up instruction booklet. This can be a nuisance as you try to change the pages with one hand. Overall, there was always a chance that this would be missing parts, like always, but in this case, they were all there. It was quite clear that somebody had started it, but gave up very quickly! Even though the pins were in the wrong holes and the pull-back unit was the wrong way up, it was easy enough to build when pulled back apart.

There is the usual Technic skill needed, but it is not as heavy as some sets. You can easily get confused with pin placements, especially with the ‘three-point’ pins, of which there are many. The overall build is smart, but not fantastic! It looks cool, but there are stickers! These had not been applied, thankfully! When the car is pulled back, it races forward and once the font is hit, the engine pops off. This is one of two that could be interchanged. It feels like they wanted to have drag races, so provided two difference sets. This is long retired, and there are far better cars from Lego. You can opt for Technic still, and even go for some cool Formula 1 cars. If you see it cheap, it’s worth a grab, but don’t go over the top. I paid £6 for it, which I would say is its top price, considering it may have been missing parts, however, if you see it new, £10 would be okay. I would say that having both sets would make the play better, but who doesn’t like flames erupting from the exhausts?

First Impressions – A hidden set from the charity shelves. Okay, but at least it was all in the box!
