Now that I have looked closer at Friends sets, I have a grown fondness for them. I have spoken before about the colours and the positivity that they offer. I wanted to build a small set and thought about getting this £8.99 bakery on wheels. In all truth, I was taken by the funny croissant on the box! Like all sets, this one has its quirks, with the most interesting bit being that the cream-topped hot chocolate has a pre-moudled drink, in it. I was surprised that such a small set would have two minidolls. I know that their popularity is not as a minifigure, but even these are now growing on me.

As I built it, I was struck by the three bags that were in the box. It became apparent that they needed to ‘all’ be opened and scattered. For an example, the minidoll parts were in separate bags. As an access issue, this is not great, but for any keen builder, they will manage, just fine. The stickers were an unwelcomed addition. They look great on the set, but the circular one atop the cab was very difficult to centre, and with troubled motor skills, it would be near impossible.

Getting to a positive note, the croissant is as cute as I’d hoped and the minidolls are quite sweet. Aliya has her book and coin and Jules gets her order ready. there is also a little doggy that sits ar Aliya’s feet and, of course, there is a couple of bones thrown in for its needs, too.
So, what do I think of this set. I believe that there is a few things that could have been done better in terms of the build logisitcs. At this price, its a set that can be bought with pocket money. I feel that this was under the average value, and would easily demand up to the £12.99 price-point. The colours are magnificent, the dolls are cute and the croissant is fabulous. One last thought: I sure hope there isn’t any dark clouds on the horizon.

First Impressions – A lovely, quirky set. The stickers and bags are a bit messy.
