Set Review – 60407 Red Sightseeing Bus

I bought this set, prior to Christmas, so I had could have a set to build during the festive period. This won my attention, due to it only costing me just over £18. Even so, at the full £25 cost, it is a great set. If you look around, you will find it for £19.99! The build time is quite good for the price-point, offering a nice vehicle build for all ages. This shines when matched up with the Lego road system. If you are ‘modular‘ builder, then the bus will fit into this look with gusto.

The building was fun, using some alternative build techniques, compared to othe vehicles on offer. The first thing you’ll notice is how narrow it is. This doesn’t change the fact that it is still a great toy to play with. The offered minifigures are key to it, but I would suggest adding a couple more to fill the tour out, a little. I really enjoyed the process of forming the rear staircase. For a small build, it created the steps on the inside, not opting for a quick-fix on the outer shell. The other great feature is the ‘destination roller’ on the front. The build seems more like an ‘illegal‘ idea, that that of a true Lego design. I love it!

Coming to it’s completion, I found that the bus looks great, but this was after the nightmare of adding the stickers! There is some fabulous connecting of bricks that form curves in the bodywork. I liked this. The set has paper-bags, which makes me happy, however, be careful to make sure that ALL pieces are released from them, some can get trapped inside. I wasn’t too keen on the use of single holed Technic blocks. Although it keeps the paint lines intact, It was clearly for strength purposes. This didn’t change the fact that it was unpleasant on bigger fingers. Having said that, it is a great set, and I highly advise building it. Add it to your City collection, or just play with it on the dining table, either way, you’ll enjoy it.

First Impressions – A great toy and an even greater City addition!
