Each year, Lego release a slew of new vehicle builds. Many of them are from the City line-up, and this one is as cool as it is sweet! The huge doughnut on the top is just a gem. I built it a few days ago, so I am thinking about it in hindsight. As a rule, I like to write these as soon after the build, as possible. I can say, with ease, that it is a great build; that’s something that is very much in memory, and I would advise its purchase.

There is the usual split in bags with the instructions acting like a modular setup. The first booklet concentrates on the main truck and its bed. The second is for the box on the back. I seem to adore the food-based Lego kits and figures, so will always float towards them as a set I want to build. Along with other City sets, this would look great. I have thought about creating a brick-diorama of a festival, using these kinds of trucks to build the food-space for the campers.

The biggest note, for this set, is that there are NO STICKERS! What bliss! All of the necessary parts are printed on, and this made me very happy. The colours are amazing atnd even at the £17.99 price tag, it’s worth buying for the collection or for a kids party. I have seen a small shift in the set prices and think that this is a little more than what it would have been a few years ago, but I am still firm in that it is of an average price.

A negative for this set, is that the chassis is a solid piece. This is another notable difference in some of the sets. There is a simplification happening, and I am unsure what the end-goal is. A second point is about the wheels. They are a fixed piece, now, with the tyres a-part of the design. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I would also like to see the paper-bags used, again. I have few sets that utilise them and feel they were one of the new ideas that worked, well. Anyway, enough of the negatives and lets keep it upbeat. It’s a great set…what more do you need than that. What a joy to build and display, its playability, notable. If you see this in a sale, online, grab it, you will love it…or maybe the kids will, I’m not one to judge!
First Impressions – A fantastic set and highly accessible. It’s for everybody!
