Set Review – 60487 Yellow Taxi

Passing the display in a local shop, I spotted this set and decided to pick it up. From the box-art, you can see some nice touches, that include, a nod to Bricksburg on the roof, a New York cabbie style minifigure and even a chasing punter. The car even has a boot lid to store the baggage. I was sceptical about the price of this, even at the till, but thought it was worth a Build with G episode. Let’s see what we find.

The build is in three pappy-bags, so that is spot-on. There are ‘NO STICKERS!’ This is going well, right from the start. The design and shaping of the taxi is great. I love the electric motor addition, showing the clean run that this taxi is promoting. It comes together in a recognisable manor. Building cars from a fixed chassis is quite normal, these days, so this will just feel like a longer version of those others. I love that, because there is a passenger to pick up, it has inline seats. It feels just like a real build from Lego City: Undercover. What a great game.

If you built this with me, via the video, thank you, and I hope you loved as much as I did. I do believe that it is a little expensive for what there is. I do sometimes feel that the sets are based on how many figures they have. Being a nice build, it is a good gift if you are stretching for a special one’s birthday party, or, if you just want it, like I did. Some sets just gel as they are built, this does feel like that. Even with familiarity, it feels freshly shaped and a good step into future looks of Lego cars. A sweet set, overall, but one to have to reach for if it’s down to pocket money spending.
