Set Review – 71455 Dreamzzz Grimkeeper

It’s been a while since I last made a Dreamzzz set. I have a few in storage and felt it was time to build this one. Looking at the Lego website, it appears that it is now retired, so getting hold of it will be from old stock. The colours and artwork for the franchise are amazing. This alone will draw children to the boxes, without the need to know about the stories. That is the sign of a great idea, and these sets do not disappoint.

From the start, it is a clearly cool looking creature. The flying Z-Blob-bike is a lacklustre, but who cares when there’s the might of a Cage Monster causing peril. It has special plating that uses NO stickers, so that made me happy. The minimal claws make this even better, but that’s not what I thought, at first. It was strange to create hands and feet with only three appendages. Once built, they look great and suit the character that is nightmare fuel from the TV show.

It uses the mix of basic and Technic, well, being formed into a superb play and/or display item. The spikes add charm to an otherwise dark and twisted entity. Caged Cooper is a sad thing, but I am most taken with the grim-lantern that it is carrying. Mateo looks as good as in all of his sets, making use of the powers that the dream-space affords him. This is great, and worth the pick-up should you come across it. An enjoyable build, with great outcomes. One last thing, though, the instructions are always such a joy to look at, there’s a passion to the drawings that shines through!

First Impressions – Gorgeous colours and a great build for play and/or display.

Price-Point – Average (Now retired.)

Time to Build – 40-50 Minutes

Score: 8/10
