To fill the void, after Christmas, I wanted a random set to build for review. I have always adored Superman; growing up with Christopher Reeve as the helm, is one of my great childhood memories. I wanted a set for my brother to build, and though, at a cheaper price, on Amazon, I’d get myself one, too. The box is quite twee, with the usual art on its front. Opening it up, it splays as a sea of red and blue, with Lex’s green, glowing through the waves. Front the start, you can see that this is a simple mech, not up to the solidity of some other mech-sets. However, this is not meant to be, so it is made for younger builder and is not too far removed from the 4+ sets that are offered.
Looking at the minifigures, the heads seem cheap, I’m not sure if this is just a colour choice, but the tone is more like a cheap set from Temu. Other than that, they are pretty cool, with me opting for the red eyes of ‘angry’ Kal-El. The set comes together, smoothly, with similar designs to most of the other mechs, but with few parts to create the individual element. This serves to help the younger builder feel less overwhelmed. With a shorter build time, it is perfect for its desired audience. I would say that it makes a great birthday party gift, but look out for it at the cheaper £9-£10, cheaper, price.
I do like how Lego cross age ranges with their products. It means that all generations can build their favourites from Marvel, Star Wars or Ninjago. It stands with Lex at its feet, ready for battle. What more do you want? My thoughts are with the wonder of why Superman needs a mech. He is super-powerful, and thus, shouldn’t need one…but whatever, it’s all good fun!
