You must be thinking that I have gone Animal Crossing mad, and to you I say, you are correct. I have a love for Dodo Airlines, more than anything else. As soon as I knew this set was out, I wanted it. Now that I have built it, it hits every spot that a licensed set, should. The opening gambit is to build the plane and Wilbur. It is like a small set, all on its own. If City sets are like this, they will be top-notch. This was purchased for £29.99. Only £2 less that the Lego price, but still, it’s a saving.

As expected, it has a lot of fiddly dressing, but there are no stickers, and the printed parts are incredible. I reckon that I gave an audible squeak when I saw the Nook Miles Ticket. The cat (Tangy) is okay, but having Orville would have been much better. I fear that there is a plan for getting him, sadly. The interior is simple, but provides a practical play-space. There is a choice of two flags, but there is only one that I want, and it’s not going to be the jagged pattern. Other than missing Orville, my only other qualm, is that the plane is not supposed to be a low-winged aircraft. Putting this aside, it made for an easier build and meant that it could be built from scratch, not using a pre-moulded fuselage.

There is space for a passenger in the plane, so you can carry out some role-play from the game. I am still confused about where the bar-wrench needs to go, so I used some of the spare open-studs to stand it up on the jetty. Placing it next to Bunnie’s Outdoor Activity set, you can see how multiple sets will make a sweet display. It actually looks like a diorama of the game’s islands. You will not be disapointed by this. It’s a little pricey for a birthday-party gift, but not as a treat or addition to the collection. This is my third Animal Crossing set, and it really has gripped me. I reckon that this set, was the nicest set that I have built in years. It felt complete, and ready for play. This should all that is needed in a Lego build. The colours, minifigures and the building, are all a pleasure to put together, forming into a super piece for play or display.

First Impressions – Wonderful! This is a beautiful set; I just wish Orville was included,
