Sticking the Bike to Vyv’s Wall!

I have been trying to create a means to fix the road bike up on the wall of the van. Version One was a maintenance claw, attached to Vyvyan’s roof. This was cumbersome and you could easily catch yourself on it, when the bike was not in the back. This version is attached to ply board that I fitted to the wall, opposite the slide door. A new claw has been fitted and works great, however, there is an issue.

The front can ride across the width of the van. This only goes so far, but any movement is a potential problem when I come to use it. Seeing that I didn’t want to run the risk of damaging the derailleurs, which often happens when a bicycle is left on its side, I didn’t want it to fail at the last hurdle.

I decided that I would use a support pole to keep the front, travelling. The pole was an addition to the bike-stand, which I don’t use, so thought it’d be great for this. I designed and printed a bracket to hold it on the wall and set about fitting it. I thought that a 22mm pipe clip would be best to hold it on the wall, when the bike was uninstalled. Sadly, version one of the printed bracket, was sub-par. It snapped when trying to apply the end of the pole. Now, I must try to make it stronger. I will report back, once I have sealed a better option.
