A quick note about a new addition to the Workshop. Late, last week, I was given a fully functioning Roebuck No.5 vice. It’s quite a twee item when placed next to the No.8, but is still a heavy piece. It has clearly seen some hard work, over the years, having a bent bar for its troubles. I love to see scars on tools, it’s an imprint of what they have helped achieve.
It has now taken the place of the No.8, for which has been placed on the side bench. They are close together and will continue to be well loved. I longed for a vice for a long time, now I have two! What was that about buses?
