I wanted to share this image with you. It was taken by Steph, earlier this week. It got me thinking. When we think about photography, there is still shape of an SLR in mind. Whether it is digital or analogue, the shape is still somewhat the same. But where camera have changed is in our mobile devices. The strength in DSLR/SLR cameras, is that they are modular and make for the most professional option available. With a bigger sensor, which allows more light in, thus sharper detailing, phone cameras are still seen to be below par. However, many artists use these for their work, as the overall technology has leapt far.

Look at this image, it was taken with an iPhone 13. the detail is astounding, with even the smaller CMOS, it feels professional. Closer looks would show the likely impairments, but as a domestic image, it is far beyond the levels that are needed for social media, or photo albums. This is apparent when you see artist’s work. You can even find blown-up images across walls that have been taken on these devices. Just a thought, and one that can inspire new photographers with just the tools that they already have to hand.
