In the past few weeks, Steph has had a new kitchen installed. The old one had been active for twenty-six years and it was time for it to be skipped. This post is just a telling of the speed that it can be changed over. It was like this:

Monday: The first two hours was a case of ripping out the old. The units were thjrown out and the tiles smashed off of the walls. The electrics are tidied up and a new socket fitted to the upper wall so that I cooker-hood can be installed at a later date. Plaster is reskimmed on the majority of the walls.

Tuesday: The walls are filled and the electrics are finalised. The floor is cleared ready for the tiles and they begin being laid.

Wednesday: Floor tiles are completed and looking superb. The first units are put in and the basic template is in place. The worktops are added.

Thursday: The top is cut out for the sink to be embedded. Water is hooked up and the tap is running. Kickboards are stuck on and the final tweaks begin.

Friday: It is a few hours ahead of time and the clean-up seals the deal!

The was one extra day where the decorator came around and brightened up the walls. All-in-all, it was an incredible thing to see. Although there was an electrician and a plasterer that came in, briefly, there was only one man doing this. the overall job was completed by Paul. The new kitchen is a stunner and like a breath of fresh-air compared to what was in before. It’s hard to believe how fast, so much, was done. This was a testament to the skills and experience of the workers involved, fabulous.
