The FASD Approach!

I have been learning about the updates on how our understanding of FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders) has changed. I as in training in the 2010s, but since then, the ideas of then, are now completely out-of-date. Where we once believed that it was a physical thing, it is now the entire body. Only 10% of people with this will show the atypical features that were once the soul of our beliefs. We can also see how the growth within the womb is effected by alcohol, and at different times, different effect can happen. I find this amazing, and shows the determination of humans to understand themselves, better. Although I have been a ‘drinker’ in the past, I now don’t drink alcohol, at all. This was originally due to the care I need to give to my late-wife, but now, it is just a belief in keeping on track. It was fun, but there are so many reasons why it should be treated with care.

One huge reasoning is with the ideas around narcotics in comparrison to alcohol and how drugs are minimal when compared. I don’t want to turn this post into a study, but the facts and ideas have changed, so much, that I wanted to mention it in one. The graphic, above, is more about what I wanted to talk about. This shows how one person can have many ages. Those with FASD are very much in this situatuion, but I do wonder how many of us have this, if at a minimal level. Are there times when we feel that a part of us is much younger, or older? What about the times when people say, ‘I’m like an old-man when it comes to that?’ It happens a lot, but is never meant as a comparrison to those the have to live with FASD. It’s just a thought, nothing more!
