The Flood That Could!

After the excitement of the festive period has died down, we are met with the dark and damp Winter months ahead of us. It’s a hard time for those that exist with seasonal issues or medical problems that relate to the colder climate. What is apparent, year on year, is the ever-increasing sense of doom that these months now bring. In many areas, flooding is a normal occurrence. Residience may find that their homes have been attacked by rushing water, or have parts of town that are now un-usable.

Local car park with a LOT of water!

This Winter has brought some of the same issues. A local spot, in town, has a run-off from the surrounding marshland. The escaping water fills car parks and crossing over roads, forming deep ford like situations. What this means, is that the chancers get their cars stuck in the knee-high water and commuters are tasked with making a new route, most likely that many others have also opted for. Over the years, towns and cities have developed and installed new barriers. Protecting their domain will push it somebody else’s, simply moving the issue and not solving it. What does this mean? Well, it is here to stay and those areas need to expect more disruption. I can’t see a way to control all of this water, without passing on the perils to others. I will be interested to look back at this, and see where we are in ten years. For now, stay sharp and stay safe!
