I think about the humour of the ‘Insignifcant Drawer.’ This is the space in which all the odd things get thrown into. Over time, this drawer has been filled with half-used battery cells, old keys, fixings, tools and in later years, trinkets from blind-bag-like toys. One thing that I have found surpasses the drawer, is the Box! This box has lots of bits in it and is usally in the loft or a cupboard. But is has one major item that rivals any that I previously wrote about…the CABLE!

Most people I have met will have a selection of old cables in their houses. Ones for USB charging, mostly micro-USB, charging lengths for laptops and even the odd network of telephone wire thrown in. My collection used to be vast, but even now, it is not somwthing to consider small. My loft a s few small boxes that contain most wires. Aside from the above, there is still coaxial cables and SCART to name but a few outdated ones. Will there be a time when cables are not needed. There are great efforts to create a universal system for ‘air’ charging and connecting. Will this allow use to part-ways with them, like the VHS tapes of our past? Time will tell, but I can see them being around for along time, yet!
