The Tack Room Refurb: Hours 28-32

This might be the last of the Tack Room posts, as I have finished it, pending whether a last bit is required that will add another two hours on. Either way, the owner of the stables is happy with it and it is serving its purpose. Today was another four and half hours of grafting, putting together the last two holes. It was decided by the end that the bottom one would be left for a small drawer unit. If this is changed, I will add the desired shelves in at a later date.

Today, I used most of the time putting the shelves in the upper hole. This was quite a simple task and felt quite loose until I added the extra facia plating, etc. To start, I created the eight upright pieces and cut the slots out. I then made the two cross-pieces. Doing it this way turned out to be efficient, and meant that the shelves were in within the first two hours. Beyond this, I began adding some facia to the front and accidentally made the upright look gnarly. This was meant to be smoother, but after breaking wood off by creating ribbing along the cuttable length, I then sanded it to form a natural look. Once the varnish is on, it will look amazing.

The lower of the holes needed the cladding putting on, so I added that and created the first two uprights for the shelves, making a third as a jig that is now put to one side. Now, it is ready for a coating and will look the part. Officially, it is done. I am happy with 75% of the outcome. I experimented with much of it, but it was an interesting build, overall.
