I have been wanting a, usable, portable, soldering iron, for automotive fixes. I chose this £20 one from Amazon. It arrived in good time and is well packaged. It comes with some solder, flux and small stand with sponge. It was when I tried it out that things went downhill. I have had a Dremel gas one in my Wishlist for some time, but this was punt for one sooner. I charged it up and tried it on a circuit board.
Don’t bother…you have been warned. It is my opinion and that of a soldering iron’s description, that this should be a very hot tool, used for liquifying the solder for adding and subtracting it. even though this one has heat settings, it ends all of the heat it gets into the metal and then goes cool. What a waste of time! Either stick with a plug-in station or handheld, or go for a decent gas one, this is embarrassing to the soldering iron market! That is all!
