It’s not a surprise that toys are very different from decades gone by. In my childhood, they changed rapidly, moving from an analogue to a digital preference. Very few things are without Bluetooth and colurs changing LEDs. The 90s were about toys making sound and movements for us. You could buy a helicopter with realistic rotor-blade sounds. There was no need to make that ‘tutting’ sound, anymore. Even though this is the case, there are still old fashioned toys still played with.

Toy cars still sell well, even though most can now use a digital version that will race over environments and allow you to choose any car in existence. Other posts have talked about some of my favourite finds. Old tin toys are a fave, and of course old Lego is one of my biggest loves. One that comes to mind, though, is things that fly. Paper aeroplanes are a must for all ages, and the further they go, the better! The joy of a parachuting soldier can still be had. I use to love them being thrown out of the window and to watch them drift downward to the battle, below. One item, is above them all. The crafted plane is still so much fun. It take the realm of the paper version, and ramps it up. You can still get tissue framed planes, but polystyrene is a great alternative. I have spent time altering these, trimming edges and mastering better aerodynamics. Is there one that you remember, and still see the fun of? I like to think of life before, what was fun, and what still can be.
