Vyvyan and her Winter Coat

With Winter hot on our heals, we make an effort to wrap ourselves up in warm clothes. We even consider our dogs, now, buying a coat for them, too. You should also think about the items that spend their time, outside. Number one, is our transportation. Bicycles are especially in need of care as the weather goes cold. Keeping them indoors is best, but that is not often possible. The damp air gets to their workings, and you need to keep the chain-gear clean and lubed.

Vyvyan’s all ready for bed!

Take Vyvyan as a case. I have, in the past, week, had the tyres changed on the front, adding to my grip, should it snow. I also like to cover the windscreen over-night, to ensure that ice and snow won’t stick to it. I like to think I’m putting her to bed. A key ingredient is keeping the handbrake off, too. I use a block, and keep it in gear, to keep it from rolling. It’s better than a sticky set of rear wheels. Anyway, I would like to look at bicycle maintenance in a future post, so stay tuned.
