Pool Safety Without the Mess

I was cleaning the frame-pool in the back garden and thought about how we need to take charge of keeping the water clean. It is no secret that water gets very nasty when not looked after. In fact, it is a vile poison in its most angriest form. We still find that people are happy just to put water in and hope for the best. I was a swimming-pool-caretaker, for a school, for more than four years. I knew the water inside and out, keeping checks on it, twice a day.

With our home pools, it is essential to keep it clean and upto date with its chlorine or bromine levels. Also changing parts of the water to keep the alkalinity down is a key factor, thus making sure that the used chlorine (known as ‘combined chlorine‘) is diluted down.

I have this hose-vacuum that does an amazing job, it’s not much more than a tenner and is great at pulling the mess off of the bottom. It’s only downfall is it will not filter the small particles, but that’s what your filter-unit is for. Make sure you stay safe and keep covered in the hot sun. Right now, the UK is sitting between 25 and 32 degrees, celcius. Suncream will keep the fun flowing, as will the careful consideration of the pool water.
