It has become quite the staple to look at mech sets in these posts. On the whole, these sets are based on the same skeleton, but have some great details that belong to the character they are based upon. This set has not been out too long, as of writing this post, as is still at the average price of £12.99. For play and display, I do believe that they offer a reasonable value for what you get. They aren’t made to wow, but to have fun in their very design.

Opening it up, it has paper bags, a good start, and even better, NO STICKERS! The breast-plate is printed, so that put pay to it having any. Like others, the bags are separated by torso, legs, then arms. I like this particular mech, it is coloured well and has edges that define this epic Zabrak character. Darth Maul has always been a favourite and I was annoyed at his wasted potential when I watched Episode One in 1999. Either way, he was reintroduced in animated adventures, so even with that, we could still enjoy his gruff, yet skilful, persona. It also has a great homage to him in the form of a scouting droid, like the ones seen on Tatooine in Episode One. I love this! It also has a plate that I have not seen. It has a small hole in it and is three studs long. I don’t recall this piece in any other set, at least not that I have built. Yet, it is found, currently, in 201 sets and 27 minifigures!

Looking at all of the posts on mech sets, it is known that I love a mech, they embody the connection between robots and adaptable systems for humans. I believe that is why Lego produce these, as a young lad, I would love to have had a mix of Star Wars and machines. If you like these mechs, young or old, it is well worth adding to your collection. The play aspect is there, especially if you have another mech to fight with, and they always look fab on a shelf, when not in use. I believe that Amazon sales will soon see this at the £10 marker, so a little more time from the date of this post, will likely get you a great set for the price!

First Impressions – Another cool mech with individuality. I love the excessively sized sabres on these!
