I have a spattering of Mario sets in the drawers, waiting to be built. I saw this one on the shelf in Sainsbury’s, and as per usual, it was at a sale price! Paying only £8.67, instead of the standard £12.99, was marvellous. For that, this is a great addition to the collection, but a bit steep for the full price. Once again, the licensed goods cost you. Opening up, I noticed that there were still plastic bagging. There is still a deliberate unease about whether Lego want to use the pappy bags, or not. Either way, it was adorned with many small parts, some that are quite unique.

The blue dino is a cute little rider for the bike, I did feel it best to not ask why Yoshi had become a bike, so there is that. The noses are printed, as are the eyes. Having no stickers is a great thing, with all that was needed, having been digitally added for you. I was unsure about why they decided to only have the egg-wheel-discs on one side! This felt unfinished, but still looks cool, if kept at an angle.

Like other Mario sets, this one has the barcode on it for the digital characters to bounce on for coins. As part of the Mario Kart sets, they are slowly adding to these. I bought the first on that was Mario’s own kart. I did see a Bowser vehicle, but have not attained that…yet. Like the other sets, this bike has the specified wheels, having a shiny formula one look about them. It also has the canon for the shells. Again having a red and a green one. Overall, this a sweet set, a little over the odds at full price, but a sweet look next to the already built kart. You’ve gotta love a bit of Yoshi, his speckled eggs are a marvel of the Mushroom Kingdom.
