Street Art, Going Large

It’s almost Christmas and I have watched an artist create a fabulously, festive, painting on the construction boards, in Stafford’s town centre. Learning that his name is Adam Illes, he appears to be an acomplished street artist. If you want to learn more, look here.

I didn’t just want to spotlight this great art, but talk about the way that street art is an important piece of culture. I come from an era where tagging was key and spray cans made a mess of social spaces. These kinds of images make a space bright and bubbly. Not just the quick spray and run, but the incredible time, layering up the colours and forming intricate pictures to look upon with awe.

In the future, look around you and see what visuals you see in your local space. Sometimes the ‘naughty’ graffiti is like a breath of fresh-air. At least we now have groups that work to endorse people’s passion for big art. The medium is a choice, the individual can use crayons, pencils, charcoal, or even, a spray can! If this is what you want, look for local groups that share in this passion. Keep it legal, it’ll keep the artist, in you, free to express yourself.
