Walking Brina around the streets and through the trees, I looked upon the trunks to see the metal tags that sport numbers. I have seen these all of my life and felt the need to write about them. If you keep your eyes open, you will see these, small, silver, tags. What are they for?

They are used to identify the individual trees in a mapped area. This can be for a few different reasons, but often, they are used for controlling what is needed. This might be:
- Felling ID – For removal of dead or risky trees.
- Health – To know what has been cared for, and when.
- Count – Knowing how many there are.
- Mapping – To pinpoint exact trees and their location.
When managing a woodland, or even an area with ten trees, it is vital for the health and futures of the greenery, to know as much as possible. Keeping your hand on the button, means you can assure their survival and the care of the environment, and people, around them. This was just a quick New-Year thought. Do you ever look at things, and think, what’s that for? I do…obviously!
