This space set has been sitting the drawer for a while. For a while, I built and reviewed this range, having left this one after hunting for it in the Lego shop. Rovers are cool, this one is fantastic looking! Yoiu will notice the icon on the box that shows it can be used with the air-lock setup. This can be found on a few of the other sets, including the Science Lab. Opening the box, you find five plastic bags. This is along with STICKERS! Even with that negative, the look is fab, and I wanted to get into building it.

Just from the box image, I love the grey wheels and tyres. They look great and make it feel quite unique. This is a Technic set that is aligned with the rest of the range. Even though it is heading for retirement, at the time of writing, it’s a great addition to the other sets, seeing a link between the age groups and preferred options for the individual builders. From the beginning, I could feel the pressure of going from a City set to the more complicated aspects of Technic. It was a joy, in fairness, and this rover turns into quite the beast. It’s easy to forget how Technic builds are slow with sudden end goals, in sight.

There are stickers, quite a few of them, but they only enhance its look. The small parts can be so confusing, but there’s a real sense of achievement when another section is complete. So, how does the end result look? It’s quite a stunning build. When built up, it has some incredible features:

- Rear Steering – Controlled by the rear twist switch.
- Raiseable Cockpit – Turn the red switch is used for this.
- Swing-Out Tool Arm – Pull the red ball, on the back.
- Claw and Metal-Detector arms – Under the cockpit.

You can’t deny the design choices being smart and futuristic. I love the mud-guard-panels over the front wheels. It’s size is impressive, being larger than expected from the box-image. The dome that covers the cockpit is a specific part, but look out of place until the top-fins are sat over it. The sampling crate looks like a real tool of space-exploration. What a fab set to play with. Some of the building is beyond the capabilities of little hands, but with help, can be built as a fantastic floor-roller. It has all the hallmarks of a display piece easily pulled down for a quick play. If you want a cool build with a challenge, grab this, whilst you can. It’s a great option for those that want the Space Range in a higher-tier level of skill. There’s always time for a bit of Technic!
