In recent years we have been introduced to the term, ‘PAREIODOLIA!‘ This wasn’t really in the mainstream before the Internet was born. As social media output grew, we were inundated with these new words, usually linked to the macabre or unusual creations from people’s imaginations. This particular term is from when we see faces in everyday objects. A prime example of this would be the Face of Mars. This was a formation on the planet’s surface that resembled a face, but is known for the start of people tallking about this odd human trait.

This image is of a fluffy piece of clothing, screwed up in a pile of washing. Not all will openly see it, but I quickly noticed a ‘Jim Henson‘ style of Scrooge-like face. I did say that if the top part was red, I’d think they were wearing a Santa hat. I wonder about this, though, how do the shapes give us this impression? If you look at pareidolia, and study its science, you come across this idea of the human brain trying to make sense of what it sees. Due to a face being something we can all adapt to, it is what we see. Just a thought, just a shape of things to see!
