Set Review – 40709 Spring Animal Playground

So, I know it’s an odd build to be doing this late in the year, but look how cure it is. How often do you see a squrrel and a chick, haging out at the park? The colours are sweet, and there is a sense of bringing that Spring air into a build, this late! It’s another small set, but I think it’s a nice break from the norm! The plastic bags cause the usual sigh, but I believe this is down to Lego still having a lot of plastic stock to use up.

It feels like there is more bags, than necessary, with three being okay, rather than the four. They are split into the two animals, the tree, and more of the tree! Why was the tree in two bags? You can’t miss the colours of the chick in bag one, and it starts the build off with a bright opening. There is more of the Brickheadz style of design, using offset pieces to allow for attaching parts to the sides. Each animal is well shaped, with even the tree looking great…from one side. I love that there are eggs hidden in the playground. One for each of the creatures.

It’s a nice set, and is a good play option. I was surprised at the size of the overall groundplate. For the money, I think you get a lot for a child to enjoy. It’s a larger birthday gift, but I can see the beams on their face, as they tear the paper off. At £10.99, it is great, at the £8.99 sale price, it’s a bargain!

First Impressions – Spring in Autumn, whatever next! The animals are cute, though!
