The Complicated World of Nutrition

As I embark on my quest to try out endurance events, I have been dabbling into the world of sports nutrition. It is so hard to find a balance of intake, whilst not overloading. You then have the big stick that stops you from eating, because less food equals less belly. It’s a minefield, proving to be difficult to get my head around. there is one area that I have been concentrating on:

How do I eat when I am training or at an event?

I have found a lot of information about this, and most of it is about setting up for an event by eating before, during and after it. The training all depends on how hard you are doing it. Although I was looking at this, what was important, was what would get my large bulk over that line? Eating protien in its droves, has become a daily matter. I’m not sure there’s enough chicken in the world, and eggs aren’t far behind, either. I am trying to swap my fat, for muscle, but have also been taught to work on my strength, as being strong is the modern way to take the course.

My Current Main Diet Items:

I am eating a lot of:

  • Broccoli
  • Chicken
  • Eggs
  • Rice
  • Noodles
  • Potatoes

Besides the obvious protien, there is a distinct amount of carbs thrown in. Between the two, I will drive to make it a reality. But what do I need? I am plagued by a mist of uncertainty, mostly unsure about the track I need to take and the need that my ‘adequate’ body must have. There is also the expense. Keeping up with training and filling in the gaps, is quite costly. I feel like I have learned a lot, but mastered nothing. I hope that as I get fitter and ready, I will have learned new things about myself and how I operate. What I learned a decade ago, is clearly not the same as now. Age has a funny way of pushing you harder. The difficulty should be seen as a challenge, really, but the aches are still quite the grind.
