I have always found it a strange concept, weighing gas. Something so light and floaty, feels like it has a negligible mass. But it seems, that we often need to weigh it. This image is from last year. In town, they had a touring balloon, indicating what a tonne of CO2 looks like. The van, to the side, is a great visual comparison of how large this was.

The big problem with understanding out ‘Carbon Footprint‘ is the way in which we can record it, or more to the point, how much we really understand it. This is a great visualization, but it lacks the backup of teachings. If only we knew the effect of it, what if we could know what each ‘chore’ costs? Imagine if we could say that using the washing machine will use a certain amount and then journalling it, giving a daily, weekly or monthly balance. Would we try harder to protect the planet? Using our vehicles has a finite time. Once the fuel is used, it stops. We usually look at it in terms of cost, and not the footprint balance. I wonder if this would be a game-changer in terms of looking after the environment that we are slowly losing.
