In the early to mid-twentieth century, children enjoyed tin-toys. The most notiable of these is that of the tin-robot. You can easily find an image of one, and they are still seen in cartoons. The 2000s brought us the second age. That was the decade known for its digital revolution; the mobile-phone industry went beserk with updates. Robots came out by the dozens, becoming popular when the first robot-dogs were up for sale. These clever-pooches were thousands of pounds, so the common person wouldn’t get their hands on them. Eventually, there was a slew of cheaper alternatives. One of them, was the i-Cybie dog.

It was a great toy for the money, and I got this one from a charity shop. I ended up selling it to a museum in the South-West. It was a collectable from that time, offering people to have a small part of the robotic-mania. Who can forget RoboSapien? This has a couple of versions and was a great addition to the toy markets, and somewhat more intelligent with each iteration. There was also a smaller version, that was very much toy-like and an animal version, called Roboraptor. There are a lot of copies online, in 2024. The fun has slowed down, for now. Will there be a third-age? If there is, will it be time for them to be more than just toys?
