Many years ago, I was given a plane to build. It took me back to the days of glue and plastic. I wonder if it was Airfix sets that gave me my patience? It was a long process. You needed to leave parts to dry, so you could continue. Planes were interesting, because they needed many parts to be done in stages. The fuselage coming together formed the base; the wings were then paired and then later attached. It was quite the skill as a child.

This is a model of a de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter. One of my favourite sim-planes to fly. I never finished this, and it still in bits in a basket. I will complete is, as it was a gift from my late-wife. I wanted to mention the hobby is a great opportunity for children to progress with hand-eye and even build that patience. Mobile phones and screens are great, but are difinately destroying the ‘wait’ factor in our young. That’s not to say it is not affecting adults, too. You can still buy many sets, and ships are a nice build, too.
