The July ’25 Update – Health and Fitness

We are at the beginning of the new fitness year, and I am ready to take on new challenges. Tomorrow (20th July,) I shall be doing the baby 5km run in Cannock Chase, whilst others do 10km and 16km for their sins! I would love to have a go at the 10km, but I am not ready…yet! So how has the first month gone for this year? I have seen an increase in muscle tone and strength. I also managed to bring my fastest 5km down by almost a minute. I just need to get my butt over the 9km line, but I am still hitting the wall just shy of it. This month, I am weighing in at 18st 7.5lbs (117.7kg.)

Looking old!

So…it’ been another month with a weekly pound loss! I decided that I would keep to my old data throughout the month, and it’s still acted as a loss! So, I will continue for a bit longer, as I feel that it will settle down, in time. Muscle growth has been furthered, but the prime thing to have changed is the knotting in my hips. My upper-right leg is quite painful at times. I guess it’s just the price of it…

I shall now begin to up the pace ready for the triathlon, in September. This is mostly about getting back on the bike and working my fitness via the road.

Extra: As I have written this later than expected, I am able to say about the 5km run at Cannock Chase. It was all for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and was hard, but satisfying. Steph and Roo also did the Mini-Miler, so that was for the cause, too. Being a trail run, it was very different than the road surface, but it has spurred me on to get over there and run, more often. Until next time, stay fit, be happy!

Details are as of: 19th July ‘2025
