I remember, not too long ago, that Lego introduced Pokémon to their line-up of licensed properties. I knew that they were being offered by Mega Blocks, in the past, but was glad to see that Lego would get a go at it. I have been collecting some of the SMART Play sets, but wanted a smaller one for a review and vlog. In comes Jigglypuff! The SMART’s technology is nothing new and is a clear alteration of ideas found in the Mario setup. The use of the tiles is similar to that of the Vidyo concept, using them to interact with a device. It’s like they have mixed the two.The insertion of the SMART brick does make the shaping of Jiggly’s face, a little odd, I think that it may have been possible to give this another thought.
There are NO STICKERS! YAY! The first thing that hits you, in the pappy-bags, is the large amount of pink pieces. You don’t really notice the printed parts, until you get to fitting them. This holds a sense of Brickheadz about it, using offset parts to make the shape of Jiggly’s body. The prints are found on the ears, eyes, mouth and curly-hair-flick. It came together simply, and would suit smaller hands. Although it is missing a SMART brick, I do think that it is still worth it. It has a facial part that stands in for it, so it can still be displayed.
This was my first go at the SMART technology, and it is really sweet. It does things when attached to the chip-tile that is built into the set. This is chip no.39, and offers:
- Shake – Chunter.
- Swoop – Wooshing Sound.
- Rock – Giggles Happily.
- Lay-Down – Sleeps and makes a snoozing noise.
I like this, and will look further into using the app that accompanies this addition. This has made me excited to try Luke’s Speeder, next, and see what chip-tile, that, has. For the basic set, it is a great gift option. Adding a SMART brick will extend it to playtime. With other Pokemon sets offered, I think this could work, well. Attaining the brick is what matters, and it is not a cheap purchase, so that would have to be considered. Overall, I do love this. It is cute and an adorable build, in general. I definitely recommend it!
