I want to introduce my new transport option. Having a car was detrimental to Vyvyan’s health, as I found that she was not looked after as well as she should have been. Going for a bike, meant that I am forced to keep time between them, as I can’t transport my family around on a two-seater. This is Ulla, she is a 2001, FJS600 Silver-Wing, from Honda. This was the first year that Honda changed the Silver-Wing to a scooter shaped bike. In this case, it is known a maxi-scooter! Where most scoots have a 50-200cc engine, this has a 600cc engine and goes like the clappers!

This was a one-year-only model, as they made alterations to it, for the 2002 season. The fact that she is 25 years old, is shocking, with her working like a gem! I have ridden her twice, this week, but she was sat in my living-room for the past week. It’s hard to express the sheer size of her, until you see it, especially compared to a normal scooter. Honda made this to rival the Burgman and TMAX maxis-scooters, where it sat, firmly between them in size. It is said that the Silver-Wing is the most comfortable, but I do know that the Burgman is a great bike. The small version of this bike, is called the S-Wing. They come in 125 and 150cc variants.

I just wanted to introduce the new vehicle diaries, to run alongside Vyv’s journal. Needless to say, going 70mph on the motorway, on what is like a padded dining-room chair, is quite the experiece. What is more important, is the ease that riding came back to me. I has been eight and half years since I sold my NC700X. Lots of fun to be had, and lots of entries to write, too!
