The modern age gives us lots of axiety. Whether we have enough money, are kep warm, have new clothes, a new phone, and what we look like, we are under pressure to conform. I was looking at my Lego City Minifigure collection and made an amazing discovery. Well I think it was, I don’t think it will change the world, but it is rather interesting.
If you look at a Lego Minifigure, they are all the same. The only time that this is challenged is when you have the Minifigure of a child. This then makes for a new investigation: Why do children grow to a set size before going to adulthood? Every adult has specific features:
- Narrow Shoulders
- Broad Hips
- 4cm Height
- Same Skin Tone
I realised, then, why Lego City is such a great place to live. If we all had the same measurements and look, what would we mock? It is clear that each individual has their own loves and desires. They each have occupations and their choice of car. Therefore, they have free-will and ideologies. The only thing that is the same, is their physical appearance.
I believe that our differences make us interesting and mixing cultures improves the level of progression in our human ideals. However, this is not really impacted when the look is the same. If we are all the same size, have the same skin tone and juicy wide hips, I would be interested to see how people would then be targeted. We are very good at mocking what we don’t understand and this would leave interests, hair-doos or clothes as the only place to aim insults at. I appreciate that there is much more to consider. With free-will comes faith. This is just a quick brain burst, a simple thought I had for a better world, or at least a plastic one.
Alas, we don’t live like this and must continue to conform or protect who we are. Whichever way you do it, whatever you look like, you are brilliant. Everything that you learn, experience and sense, build the individual that you are or will become. Let’s hope for a tolerant society, one that brings us together to be even better and that launches us to new heights of greatness.
